Opadiran, Aremu and Joseph bring ‘Ibadan MetARTmorphosis’ to CAMAA

‘Ibadan MetARTmorphosis’, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Bola Opadiran, Bolaji Aremu, and Kolawole Joseph, opened today 11 May, 2023 at the Institute’s Cornelius Adepegba Museum of African Art (CAMAA).

This exhibition brings to our public the work of three exceptional Ibadan-based artists, each of whom has a unique style and approach, but together are united in their passion and dedication to creating works that are by turns inspirational and provocative. Bola Opadiran’s mixed media works, made from an eclectic range of materials, reflect his ingenuity and versatility. Bolaji Aremu’s striking use of concentric lines and bold colours creates a mesmerizing visual experience. Kolawole Joseph’s sculptures made from recycled materials showcase his creativity in upcycling and his commitment to sustainable art.

‘Ibadan MetARTmorphosis’ captures the spirit of transformation that is at the core of the process of artistic development as experienced by our three artists in their daily engagement with the city that serves as muse and setting for their creativity. The exhibition is thus a joint and varied exploration of both personal and social transformation, with the three artists unravelling vistas of their unique visions of the world.
