IAS-UI Hosts Prof Otiono of IAS, Carleton

We were glad to host Prof Nduka Otiono, Director of the Institute of African Studies, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.

His visit to IAS-UI was to initiate conversations towards the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding that is under way between the University of Ibadan and Carleton University. Prof Otiono met with some members of the IAS-UI Scientific Committee on 11 July, 2024, on this visit which was also a homecoming to his alma mater, the University of Ibadan, where he earned his BA and MA degrees in English.

As a first step in the implementation MOU, both institutes are planning a joint research project to be implemented by accessing the Connection Grant endowed by the University of Carleton.

 

Prof Otiono was received by IAS-UI Director, Dr Molatokunbo Olutayo. He used the opportunity of the visit to re-familiarize himself with some of his favourite spots in our Institute, including a visit to the Cornelius Adepegba Museum of African Art (CAMAA), where the exhbition ‘Igi’bàdàn: Living with Trees in Ìbàdàn’ is still running.
