Roundtable on Arabic Manuscript Collections of the University of Ibadan

The Centre for Arabic Documentation (CAD) is holding a one-day roundtable that will bring together at Lady Bank-Anthony Hall eminent scholars and researchers in the field of manuscriptology to discuss the Arabic manuscript collections domiciled in different archives in the University of Ibadan, and also deliberate on the state of such manuscripts in both public and private archives across the country.

Chair of the occasion is Prof Is-haq O. Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin. The keynote will be delivered by Prof Amidu Sanni, Vice Chancellor, Fountain University, Osogbo. Two lead papers by Dr I.A. Jimoh, Coordinator of our Centre for Arabic Documentation, and Dr Marion Wallace of the British Library, London, will also be delivered at the roundtable.

Other contributors at the roundtable include Prof M.O. Abdul-Rahmon of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan, Prof A.M. Bunza of Usumanu Dan Fodiyo University, Sokoto, Mr C.O. Ola, Deputy University Librarian, University of Ibadan, Dr Shuaibu Shehu, Director of Arewa House, the Centre for Research and Historical Documentation, Kaduna, Prof Kamal Babikir of the Usumanu Dan Fodiyo University, Sokoto, Dr Salisu Bala of Arewa House, and Prof Afis Oladosu, Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan. Special Guest of Honour is Dr Helen O. Komolafe-Opadeji, the University Librarian, University of Ibadan.

The roundtable, supported by the Institut Français de Recherche en Afrique (IFRA), starts at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, 29 November, 2021. Venue is Lady Bank-Anthony Hall, Institute of African Studies.
