The poet, novelist, playwright, journalist and social activist, Sam Omatseye delivered the ASSA Personality Lecture on June 1, 2017 at Lady Bank-Anthony Hall.

Mr Omatseye spoke on the topic ‘Cultural Globalization and Indigenization of Reality TV Shows in Nigeria’. It was indeed a stimulating engagement as Omatseye dissected the reality TV format to its bare bones, tracing the trajectory of its development from forms of popular performance down to enactments in the village square.

Both staff and students of the Institute interacted vigorously with Mr Omatseye, who is Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Nation newspaper.

After the lecture, Mr Omatseye had a tour of IAS facilities. ASSA has decided to name its personality lecture series The Sam Omatseye Personality Lecture.
